Roark Elementary School

Roark Elementary School, part of Arlington ISD, serves around 650 students from Pre-K through 6th grade. The student body is diverse, with 74% Hispanic, 19% Black, 5% White, and 1% Asian. About 11% of the students identify as two or more races. The school also has a significant number of English language learners (58%) and a majority (89%) come from low-income families.

Implementing NumberSense

Roark Elementary discovered the NumberSense app by Knomadix, an AI-driven educational tool designed to enhance math skills and critical thinking. With sponsorship from the General Motors Foundation, Roark Elementary integrated NumberSense across all K-6 classrooms, providing access both at school and home.

Significant Improvement in 
Math Outcomes

Teachers at Roark Elementary used the NumberSense app to enrich both classroom and homework activities. The results were remarkable, showing over 60% improvement in common assessments and a 40% improvement in scholastic inventory assessments. Student engagement and confidence in math also saw a significant boost, with the percentage of students passing the 5th-grade STAAR test rising from 62% in 2018 to 89% in 2019.
